Heat Pump Installation and Repair in Virginia

Half of Virginia's homes heat with electricity, and across the eastern and central parts of the state that usually means a heat pump doing both the winter and the summer work. The contractors here state on their own sites that they install, replace or repair heat pumps, including ductless and dual-fuel systems where the company names them.

Two facts shape a heat pump purchase in 2026. New residential systems manufactured since January 2025 have to use a refrigerant with a global warming potential of 700 or less, while existing systems can still be serviced and repaired, so ask what refrigerant a quoted unit uses and what that means for the equipment already in the house. And the federal 25C credit that applied to qualifying heat pumps ended for equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025. Utility rebates vary by year and by provider; the contractor should say what it will file on your behalf, in writing.
