William Lowery runs Virginia HVAC Directory for Sunnyvale Management, a Richmond marketing firm that builds and operates local service websites across the Commonwealth. He started this directory after watching homeowners pick a heating company off a sponsored result in July, with no idea whether the outfit was licensed or whether it even worked on heat pumps. Each listing here is read from the contractor's own website and marked for what the company services, whether it answers after hours, whether it offers financing, and whether it states a Virginia license, with a link to the state lookup so you can confirm it yourself. Claims and corrections go to William and get checked by hand before anything changes.
Why this directory exists
I run this directory for Sunnyvale Management, a small Richmond firm that builds and operates local service websites around Virginia. The idea for it came from watching what happens when a furnace dies on a Sunday night. People search, tap the first paid result, and let a stranger into the house without knowing whether the company holds a Virginia license or has ever touched the kind of system they own. The information to make a better choice is public, but it is scattered across a license board, a map listing and a few hundred contractor websites, and nobody had put it in one place for the Commonwealth.
So this site does the gathering. Every heating and cooling contractor Google lists in Virginia was pulled, cleaned of closed and stale entries, and then read from its own website for the services it actually names. What a company says about itself is marked on its listing; what it does not say is left blank rather than guessed. Owners can claim a listing for free and correct it, and I check each claim myself before anything changes. The directory earns its keep from clearly labelled premium and featured positions, never from steering a reader to one company over another.
How listings are vetted
Every company on this site came out of Google's business listings for Virginia and was then read one at a time: its own website, its service pages, its hours and what it says about its license. A listing is marked for the work the contractor says it does, not for what a category label implies. Where a company's site says nothing about a service, the listing says so instead of guessing.
Ratings and review counts are Google's and are shown as Google's. Nothing on this site is a paid endorsement. Featured and premium positions are sold at a published price and are labelled wherever they appear, and a company that pays gets a badge and photos, never a better rating.
Right now that is 1,662 HVAC contractors in 117 Virginia cities, last refreshed 2026-11-05.
Owners can claim their listing for free. Every claim is checked by a person: a real local business, a matching email domain or a call to the number on the Google listing. Paid placements are marked as featured, premium or best-of wherever they appear.
